These plaques are in a a number of designs. The idea was to make a stained glass panel in the Arts & Crafts style or with a nod towards medieval stained glass panels. They are hand drawn, then each panel is painted a base colour, baked, and then additional detail added, baked again, final detail, and baked again. Some sections may require three or more painting stages – and multiply that by the number of panels on the plaque. Some panels are made up of a number of leaded sections which involves more work. They are complex, amazing pieces and show the high level of artistic skill we lavish on our work. Hand drawn and painted, no two are exactly the same.

Then lead is applied, and a wooden stand is made for the plaque. The stands are either waxed, or given a specialised paint finish – such as the golden leaves and vine on the Green Man design.
We have also created this beautiful Madonna & Child plaque on a glass panel, based on a Byzantine design. The gold makes it glow – a gorgeous piece of work.
